Getting a Break from Your Break
Wednesday September 24, 2008
Forget stay-at-home dad burnout. What about getting burnt out from something as simple and refreshing as vacation? Or at least returning from it and getting back into your every day routine? That’s what my family is experiencing right now. Being a stay-at-home dad doesn’t mean you can’t get away with a family vacation. You get to break from everyday madness, your kids get to experience new things and your spouse is there the whole time to help out. Very refreshing. But getting back can be a different story. The baby no longer wants to sleep in his bed, the oldest doesn’t like preschool any more and your wife got sick. Sure, everyone will adapt again in a few days. But that’s not helping at the moment. It’s enough to want to figure out how to get in a break for yourself, even if you’ve only been back a few hours. Just try to remember: Vacation was good.
