When our first-born was an infant, he loved to be swaddled. Couldn't go to sleep without a blanket wrapped around him. But as he grew, it was more and more difficult to keep a blanket on him. Knowing that sleep safety and SIDS campaigns call for nothing to be in the crib with the child, we looked for a way to keep him comforted at night.
The HALO SleepSack was a perfect fit. The wearable blanket is easy to use, keeps babies warm and snug and keeps loose items out of the crib. It even has a patch on the front reminding parents to put the kids on their backs when sleeping.
All you have to do is slip your baby into the SleepSack and zip it up. It's almost like putting him or her in a sleeping bag. It is loose fitting, but it isn't going anywhere. It also doesn't constrict a baby's movement. And if you continue to use one as your child becomes mobile, he or she could even figure out how to crawl or stand up in it.
There are several styles, versions and sizes of the SleepSack. There are lighter and heavier versions, which can help depending on the season or where you live. And with six sizes, from extra, extra small (birth to five pounds) to extra large (26-36 pounds), you can keep your child in much one for more than a year if you choose. There are also sleep sacks for bigger kids, but by then theyll probably prefer an actual blanket.
The zipper can sometimes be tricky to get up or down, but other than that, it's a good product. On HALOs website most products range from $25 to $30, but you can find them in stores such as Babies R Us for about $20. Thats not a bad value and it will last.
