Chances are, in a stay-at-home dad household your wife doesn’t get a lot of one-on-one time with the kids. So for a nice Mother’s Day gift, why not provide her with that outlet.
You get to spend hours on end with just the kids and although your wife is probably fairly secure in the arrangement, no doubt she would like to spend more time with the children. On occasion, she might feel guilty that she’s not able to. Even the times she does spend with the children, more than likely you are around as well meaning it is hard to find that alone time.
Chances are, the kids miss the heck out of her as well and would jump at the chance to have a day out. So plan a day – with much input from the kids -- for her to get some quality time with the children. The zoo, a movie, a nice lunch out. Whatever she and the kids like to do together is fair game.
Obviously this can result in a little break for you at the same time, but that shouldn’t be the motivation. And if Mom would rather the day be spent with the entire family, you should willingly oblige. If that’s the case, you could still plan a day for just her and the kids that doesn’t fall on the special occasion.
The idea is simply to reward her with a fun day with her kids, which should equal a pretty good Mother’s Day.
